The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) led by PM Narendra Modi on 4th December 2018, has appointed Ajay Narayan Jha as the new Union Finance Secretary.
Ajay Narayan Jha will replace Hasmukh Adhia, who got retired on 30th November 2018. The Unique Identification Authority of India Chief Ajay Bhushan Pandey had earlier replaced Hasmukh Adhia as Revenue secretary.
Ajay Narayan Jha prior to this appointment has served as an Expenditure Secretary.
Ajay Narayan Jha (49-year-old) is a 1982 batch Indian Administrative Services officer from Manipur cadre, as the expenditure secretary in October. Before that, he was the environment secretary.
Ajay Narayan Jha is an alumnus of St Stephens College from where he passed with first class in Graduation and post graduation in History, Jha is a recipient of World Bank scholarship to pursue Masters in Economic Policy Management from McGill University in Canada. He is also an MPhil in public administration from Delhi University.
