The 2nd meeting of the 'NITI Forum for North East' held on 4th December 2018 in Guwahati, Assam. It focuses on issues pertaining to five critical sectors, including tourism, bamboo, and dairy.
The 'NITI Forum for North East' meeting was chaired over by Vice Chairman of the NITI Aayog Rajiv Kumar and co-chaired by Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, Dr. Jitendra Singh.
The NITI Forum for North East was constituted in February 2018, to periodically review the development status in the North Eastern Region. It is tasked to identify various constraints in the way of accelerated, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the Northeast and to recommend suitable interventions for addressing identified constraints.
The NITI Forum for North East members includes Secretaries of various Ministries of the Union Government, Chief Secretaries of all the eight North-eastern states and also senior government officials and experts from various fields.
The NITI Forum for North East emerged that infrastructure, horticulture, bamboo, tourism, food processing, education, livelihoods, health in the Northeastern region were areas critical for the development of the region,
