OP Bhatt replaces Cyrus Mistry who remains the director of Tata Steel Board.
Bhatt was chosen by the majority of members where six members were in favour of him while three were not.
OP Bhatt was the Managing director and Chairman of State Bank of India and retired in 2011 and had a long tenure as the Chairman in the past.
Bhatt was chosen as a Chairman at the second meeting of Tata Steel after Cyrus Pallonji Mistry was removed from the Chairman of Tata Sons last month.
Bhatt will be the chairman till the outcome of extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) called on 21st December to remove Mistry as a director.
