Central Government set up NITI Aayog commitee to promote cheap cashless transactions

The Central Government of India has set up NITI Aayog committee to look into the cashless transactions between Government and the citizens of India.

The government has set up a high level committee headed by CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant to look at the measures to be taken to promote cashless transactions and asses the cost involved in various digital payment options.

Measures to be taken to promote cashless transactions and lower the cost of digital payments

The committee will interact with other higher officials like ministers, regulators, state government, local bodies etc. to promote faster transitions in digital payment options.

The committee will implement an action plan on awareness, support and handholding efforts among the public, micro enterprises and other stakeholders.

The committee comprises of secretary of department of financial services and Ministry of Electronics and technology education, CEO of National Payments Corporation of India, Ministry of Rural Development and chairman of National Highway Authority of India.
