The Universal Children's Day is celebrated on 20th November every year around the world to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide.
The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) promotes and coordinates this special day of Universal Children's Day, which also works towards improving children's welfare.
The Universal Children's Day 2018 Theme is "Children are taking over and turning the world blue" and social media campaign as #GoBlue.
The Universal Children's Day was established on 14th December 1954, by the UN General Assembly (UNGA). On November 20, 1959, the UN General Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and on November 20, 1989, it adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Many countries observe Universal Children's Day annually on November 20. However, some countries, such as Australia and India, which still chose various different dates during the year to celebrate this day.
In India, Children's Day is celebrated on 14th November annually (Bal Divas) on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who was very famous among children for his love towards them and was often called as 'Chacha Nehru".
