India is celebrating Children’s Day, also known as Bal Divas, on 14th November 2018. It is celebrated every year across India to promote the awareness of people towards the love, attention, rights, care, and education of children.

Children’s Day aims to pay tribute to the memory of late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary, who, due to his love for children was fondly known as Chacha Nehru.

At the global level, the Universal Children's Day is observed every year on 20 November as per a resolution of the United Nations approved in the year 1954.

In India, November 14 started being celebrated as Children’s Day only after Nehru’s death in 1964. Earlier to this, much like other countries, Children’s Day was celebrated on November 20, that is the Universal Children’s Day as declared by the United Nations.
