Big Diwali celebrations at Ayodhya has set a world record by lighting over 3 lakh earthen lamps or mud diyas. These earthen lamps were lit on the banks of holy river Sarayu at Deepotsava in Uttar Pradesh.
First Lady of South Korea Kim Jung-sook, the wife of South Korean president Moon Jae-in was the chief guest of the Deepotsava function conducted on 6th November 2018 with the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath.
Addressing the large gathering at Deepotsava function in Ayodhya CM Yogi Adityanath made an announcement that now the historic city of Faizabad will be known as Ayodhya. Earlier heritage town Ayodhya was part of the Faizabad district.
CM Yogi also announced that the under-construction Airport and Medical college in the city will be named after Shri Ram and Raja Dashrath. He informed that central government is making all efforts for the development of Ayodhya.
