Shakti Bhatt Man Booker Prize 2016 has been awarded to Akshaya Mukul from Times of India for his book Gita Press and the Making of Hindu India.
He was chosen by the judges Samanth Subramanian, Mahesh Rao and Janice Pariat.
Akshaya Mukul also won Ramnath goenka Awards for Gita Press and Making of Hindu India, he boycott the event as it was distributed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Akshaya Mukul it was a bit too much to receive a journalism award from a man of comtemptous of journalists.
Other authors that were shortlisted are Manu S.Pillai for ‘The Ivory of Throne’, Madhu Gurung for ‘The Keeper of Memories’, Sophia Khan for ‘Yasmeen’, Nisid Hajari for ‘Midnight’s Furies’.
