World Science Day for Peace and Development Celebrations On 10th November 2018 Theme, Details, Aim, Significance, History

World Science Day for Peace and Development is observed on 10 November around the world to raise awareness of the benefits of science in our daily life.

World Science Day for Peace and Development depicts the important role of science in society and the need to engage the wider public in debates on emerging scientific issues.

World Science Day for Peace and Development-2018 theme is “Science, a Human Right”,  It highlights the importance and relevance of science in human daily lives.

World Science Day-2018 celebration marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and of the Recommendation on Science and Scientific Researchers

To mark World Science Day, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) organizes several special campaigns, visits to science museums for school children, etc.

World Science Day for Peace and Development was started in 2001 by UNESCO as a follow-up to the first World Conference on Science in 1999. The conference was jointly organised by UNESCO and International Council for Science in Budapest (Hungary).
