In a bid to take serious action under #MeToo campaign PM Narendra Modi government has formed a Group of Ministers (GOM), under the leadership of Home Minister Rajnath Singh on 24th October 2018 to deal & look cases of sexual harassment at the workplace.
The GOM Group has been advised to form a strong legal and institutional framework to prevent exploitation in the workplace.
Along with the Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, the GoM will comprised of Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari; Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman and WCD Minister Maneka Gandhi.
The GoM has been given a time frame of 3 months to examine the existing provisions for the safety of women and recommend further measures required to strengthen and make them more effective.
Also apart from this, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has arranged an electronic complaint box. Through this, women can raise voice against sexual abuse in the workplace.
