Indian Navy: Abhay Humsa UG AIDSS NADS sonar inducted submarines

 

 

Indian Navy: Four types of Sonars are inducted that would boost underwater surveillance capacity and provide quest for self-reliance in technology

These four sonars are Abhay, Humsa UG, Near-field Acoustic Characterisation System and Advanced Indigenous Distress Sonar System for Submarines.

Abhay is an advanced active cum passive integrated sonar system designed and developed for sonar platforms.

Abhay is capable of detecting, classifying, localising and tracking sub-surface and surface targets in both active and passive modes of operation.

Indian Navy has proposed to induct this SONAR on three of the Abhay ships.

Humsa UG is designed for upgrading the existing Humsa sonar system and has been proposed for seven ships of three different classes of ships.

AIDSS is developed to provides indication to submarines in its distress and helps in quick rescue and salvage.
