India has launched massive humanitarian 'Operation Samudra Maitri' to give assistance to earthquake and tsunami victims in Indonesia.
The Operation Samudra Maitri was launched after the telephonic conversation between PM Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Joko Widodo which in turn followed Indonesia’s acceptance of international this aid.
Under the Operation Samudra Maitri, India has dispatched two aircraft C-130J and C-17 and 3 naval ships have carried relief material and personnel to the country. C-130J aircraft had carried a medical team along with tents and types of equipment to set up a field hospital.
Under it, Indian C-17 aircraft has also carried medicines, generators, tents and water to provide immediate assistance.
Under the Operation Samudra Maitri, Three Indian Navy ships were deployed INS Tir, INS Sujatha and INS Shardul to carry out humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).
