The Assam government will provide electricity connection to all households by 31st December 2018, under SOUBHAGYA scheme.
About 78 percent works have already been completed as of now. Over 13 lakh families remaining will get a connection by this year end (2018).
As per the source, 40 thousand solar connections would be given in difficult areas. It is notified 3500 appointments will be given in the Power sector in the Assam state.
Also Rs 5000 crore has been allocated to construct new roads under Assammala project. Under Assammala, main roads will be constructed in the next 3 years in the Assam state.
Union Ministry of Power launched Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana –“Saubhagya” with an aim at providing last mile electricity connectivity to all rural and urban households.
Under the SOUBHAGYA scheme. , the Government of India will provide free electricity to all households identified under Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) data 2011.
Electricity connections will be given to APL families for Rs 500, which will be payable in 10 equal monthly installments. The BPL cardholders will get free electricity connections.
The total outlay of the SOUBHAGYA scheme is Rs. 16, 320 crores while Gross Budgetary Support (GBS) is Rs. 12,320 crore. The Central Government will provide largely funds for the Scheme to all States/UTs.
