BSNL has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Softbank and NTT Communications to roll out 5G and internet of things technology (IoT) in India.
Under this, BSNL and Softbank will work on satellite constellation which will have around 900 satellites to provide high-speed internet services.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has recommended the auction of about 8,644 MHz of telecom frequencies at an estimated base price of Rs 4.9 lakh crore
BSNL has also signed an agreement with Nokia and Cisco for developing the 5G ecosystem.
Earlier, On September 2018, NITI Aayog and BSNL inked pact under DoT for the test trials of 5G.
On 25th August 2018, a 5G forum lead by Prof. AJ Paulraj submitted its report to DoT for induction of 5G by 2020.
