The Union Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the foundation stone of Delhi-Saharanpur Highway in Baghpat on 11th September 2018.
The Delhi-Saharanpur highway project will be executed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The total cost of the project is Rs 1505.72 crores.
The Delhi-Saharanpur highway project is 154km-long (NH-709 B via Ghaziabad) National Highway connecting India's capital Delhi to Saharanpur.
The Delhi-Saharanpur highway project will be developed in three phases. In the first phase, a 61km-long stretch of the highway from Baghpat to Shamli will be developed, for which over Rs 700 crore has been allotted.
The Delhi-Saharanpur highway is believed to open the doors of development for districts like Baghpat, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar.
After the construction of the Delhi-Saharanpur highway is completed, anyone from Baghpat will be able to reach Delhi in just two hours, which now takes more than three hours due to the bad condition of the road.
