Abul Kalam Muhiyuddin Ahmed Azad was born on 11th November 1888 in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Azad was the senior political leader of Indian Independence Movement and became the first minister of education.
Maulana Azad was also awarded Highest Civilian Award, Bharat Ratna in the year 1922.
He adopted his pen name as Azad and was commonly known as Maulana Azad.
Maulana Azad was the leader of Khilafat movement and supported Gandhi's Civil disobedience and Non-cooperation movement.
In the year 1923, Azad served as the President of Indian National Congress and became the youngest person to serve at the post at the age of 35.
