India & Srilanka Conducts Joint Naval Exercise SLINEX-2018 at Trincomalee, Sri Lanka: Details, Aim, Highlights

The SLINEX-2018 exercise is a joint naval exercise between India and Srilanka. For it, Indian navy ships and Indian aircraft arrived at Trincomalee in Sri Lanka.

The SLINEX-2018 exercise is a joint exercise between Indian and Sri Lankan navies which was previously held biannually has been converted to an annual event from this year 2018.

The SLINEX-2018 exercise aims to enhance cooperation in the maritime domain and to further strengthen mutual trust and interoperability between the two navies. 

The SLINEX-2018 exercise is a week-long exercise, its scope has been significantly increased this year with three ships, two maritime patrol aircraft and one helicopter participating from the Indian side. Sri Lanka Air Force personnel would also join in the exercise for the first time.

The SLINEX-2018 exercise will be conducted in two phases, namely the Harbour and Sea Phase.
