India-Sri Lanka meeting headed by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj agreed to set up hotline between coast guards and a joint working group on fisheries.
The ministry also decided to hold the meeting after every six months and exchanged views to find a permanent solution to fisherman issues.
Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare Radha Mohan Singh met with Sri Lankan Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Mahinda Amaraweera.
At the first meeting, issues relating to release of detained fishing vessels will be discussed.
Both the governments also agreed that there will be no violence and no loss of life in the handling of fisherman by the Navies and Coast Guards of two countries.
