NITI Aayog To Organise India's First Ever Global Mobility Summit in September 2018- Dates, Details, Objectives, Themes

NITI Aayog will organise India's first ever ‘MOVE: Global Mobility Summit’ on 7th September to 8th September 2018 in collaboration with various union ministries and industry partners.

The Global Mobility Summit will be held in New Delhi and will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Global Mobility Summit is believed to see the presence of over 1200 expected participants from across the world including government leaders, industry leaders, research organizations, academia, think tanks and civil society organisations.

Key Objectives

The Global Mobility Summit will help to uplift India’s goals for vehicle electrification, renewable energy integration, and job growth, thus, speeding up India’s transition to a clean energy economy.

The Global Mobility Summit aims to bring together and engage with key stakeholders within rapidly transforming global mobility landscape and to evolve public interest framework for shared, connected, zero-emission agenda for the future.        

The Global Mobility Summit also aims to encourage synergies between indigenous industries such as automobile manufacturing, information technology, electronics, telecommunications to integrate with global supply chains.

The Global Mobility Summit also envisages mobility as a key driver for generating employment, providing innovative solutions to improve efficiency and efficacy of the transport sector and accelerate economic growth. 

Key Themes

The Global Mobility Summit will be organised along six key ‘tracks’ to facilitate debate and deliberations on towards preparing a collective mobility agenda. These tracks or themes are:

  1. Asset Utilization and Services
  2. Comprehensive Electrification
  3. Alternative Energy
  4. Reinventing Public Transit
  5. Logistics and Goods Transport
  6. Data Analytics and Mobility
