The ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme was launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2018 with an aim to effectively transform some of the most underdeveloped districts of the country.
The ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme envisages the rapid development of selected districts on basis of a composite index based on 5 parameters viz health and nutrition, education, financial inclusion, skill development, agriculture and water resources and basic infrastructure.
The ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme significant features are Convergence (of Central & State Schemes), Collaboration (of Central, State level ‘Prabhari’ Officers & District Collectors) and Competition among districts driven by a Mass Movement or a Jan Andolan.
The ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme focuses on the strength of each district, identifies low-hanging fruits for immediate improvement, measures progress, and ranks districts.
The ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme aims to fulfill Union Government’s SabkaSaath, SabkaVikas initiative that aims to raise the living standards of citizens and ensure inclusive growth for all.
