India and Japan join hands for second high-speed rail agreement

 

 

India to provide second high-speed rail agreement to Japan during Narendra Modi visit to Japan in 11-12 November.

India has also given first high speed rail agreement for bullet train technology which is proposed to start from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.

The second high speed rail project is proposed to run in Central or Southern India.

Japan also wanted to expand high-speed rail network in India and India will be benefited from this as Japan has the expertise in high-speed Railways.

The first high speed rail project was signed in December 2015 during Japan's PM visit in India at New Delhi.

It is also expected that the fare of railways of these routes will be less than air fare.

The link is proposed to start from December and is expected to finish till 2023.

Japan will also be providing financial assistance for the project at 81% of the nominal cost and interest rate of 0.1%.
