The Conference on “International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028” was held in Tajikistan.
Union Minister for Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation and Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari has represented India in the high-level Conference on “International Decade for Action: Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” in Tajikistan.
United Nations and Government of the Republic of Tajikistan have jointly organized the Conference to discuss key water-related issues of sustainable development goals adopted by UN member countries.
Earlier, The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed the decade 2018-2028 as the International Decade for Action ‘Water for Sustainable Development’. It will begin on World Water Day 22 March 2018 and end on World Water Day, 22 March 2028.
The objectives of the Decade focus on the sustainable development and integrated management of water resources for the achievement of social, economic and environmental objectives and on the implementation and promotion of related programmes and projects.
