A fishing Cat was found in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh in dense mangrove area.
This medium-sized wild cat is of South and Southeast Asia and is the state animal of West Bengal.
It was sighted at the densely mangrove area where Asian Sea Bass fish species are present in much quantity.
They are found along rivers, lakes swamps, streams, area around wetlands and mangrove.
Fishing Cats are threatened by destruction of wetlands and the existing practise for catching the species of fish seeds will disturb these cats.
Fishing cat has been classified under Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and International Union of Conservation of Nature has classified these as vulnerable species.
