Today on 16th June 2018, Google's Doodle marks the 103rd birth anniversary of Marga Faulstich's, a well known & noted German glass chemist.
Marga Faulstich was born on 16th June 1915 in Weimar, German Empire. She died on 1st February 1998, in Mainz at the age of 82 years.
Marga Faulstich in the year 1922, moved with family to Jena, where she attended high school. After graduating from high school in 1935, she began her training as a graduate assistant at Schott AG, a leading manufacturer of optical lenses and special techniques.
Marga Faulstich worked for Schott AG for 44 years. During this time, she worked on more than 300 types of optical glasses. About 40 patents were registered in her name. Marga Faulstich was the first woman executive at Schott AG.
Marga Faulstich received international recognition for the invention of the light SF 64 lens, for which she was honored in the year 1973.
Marga Faulstich in 1979, got retired after working at Schott AG for 44 years. She spent the next few years traveling to distant countries, but still gave lectures and presentations at glass conferences.
Google in its Doodle marks the work achievements of Marga Faulstich depicting an animated image of her busy testing glasses. It also shows various instruments and equipment used in an optician's laboratory.
