New Species of Wasp discovered in Western Ghats of ZSI

 

 

Zoological Survey of India discovers New Species of Wasp at Western Ghats Regional Centre

A new species of Wasp have been discovered in the Western Ghats which belongs to the sub family of Eumeninae of family Vespidae.

The size of the 6 mm long and are harmless and made mud nests.

The species of Wasp was earlier recorded from the Malabar Wildlife Sanctuary, Aralam Wildlife Sanctuary and Nilambur forests

Two other new species have also been found which were discovered in the forests of Assam and Meghalaya.

The two new species that have been discovered have increased to the remaining genus ‘Parancistrocerus’.

The total number of species have been increased to 11all over the country and 3 in Kerala.

The discovery of new species has been done by Western Ghats Regional Centre of the Zoological Survey of India.
