Shankar Balasubramanian bags Knighthood award for DNA sequencing

 

 

Professor Shankar Balasubramanian awarded with Knighthood award for invention of DNA sequencing

Shankar Balasubramanian is the professor of Chemistry and DNA expert of Cambridge University.

Apart from Shankar Balasubramanian Olympic stars Andy Murray and Mo Farah were awarded by Queen Elizabeth II for their contributions.

Shankar Balasubramanian described DNA sequencing as the most transformational advance as in biology and medicine for decades

 Recently, Shankar Balasubramanian made a significant contribution to understand the role of DNA-quadruples in cancer and invented the method for sequencing of epigenetic modifications.

In the New Year Honour list 2017 Murray, Farah received Knighthood while athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill becomes a dame.

A host of Indian professional list were also included in Knights Commander of the Order of British Empire for Hardip Singh Begol of UK’s department for Education by services to education.
