A survey conducted at Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Kolkata proved that only 15% of the population in metro cities are aware of credit scores.
Credit Sudhaar Yojana is started by the government last year to manage credit and Finance.
The credit agencies have been operating from last one year and the Reserve Bank of India has asked them to provide credit scores free of cost annually starting from December.
According to the survey, only 11% people have taken the credit reports from the credit agency and according to the reports, only 9% have reviewed their credit scores.
In Delhi and Bengaluru, people are more aware and 25% of population in Delhi are aware of a good credit score.
Hyderabad and Pune have the least awareness and 10% of population is checking their credit reports.
Everyone wants to apply for credit online but half of the population still apply directly and the one-fourth of the population wants to apply through the third party.
