Commonwealth Games 2018 Concluded: India Came 3rd In Medals Tally While Australia Topped

Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It was concluded on the final day on 15th April 2018.

India has magnificently performed to clinch 66 medals to stand 3rd behind Australia and England in the 21st Commonwealth Games-2018 medals tally. It can be broken down into 26 Gold Medals, 20 Silver Medals, and 20 Bronze Medals.

Most of India’s medals came from the Shooting competition (16 Medals); Wrestling completion (12 Medals); Boxing and Weightlifting (9 Medals) followed by other sports.

India had won 35 medals by male athletes, 28 from female athletes and 3 medals came in team events (badminton, table tennis and squash).

India with this has surpassed the medals tally of Commonwealth Games-2014 held in Glasgow. Earlier, India had won 64 medals – 15 Gold, 30 Silver and 19 Bronze.

Australia topped the CWG-2018 event medals tally, with 80 Gold Medals, 59 Silver Medals and 59 Bronze Medals making a total of 198 Medals.

England remains second in the CWG-2018 event medals tally, with 45 Gold Medals, 45 Silver Medals and 46 Bronze Medals making a total of 138 Medals.

CWG-2018 event top 10 in the medals tally is rounded off with Canada (4th; 82 medals), New Zealand (5th; 46 medals), South Africa (6th; 37 medals), Wales (7th; 36 medals), Scotland (8th; 44 medals), Nigeria (9th; 24 medals) and Cyprus (10th; 14 medals).
