Vinesh Phogat has bagged the 23rd Gold Medal for India, on the tenth day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's freestyle 50kg category of wrestling competition on 14th April 2018.
Vinesh Phogat (23 years old) achieved the feat against outraging victory over Canada’s Jessica Macdonald with a 13-3 scoreline.
Earlier, Vinesh Phogat had also won the ‘Gold Medal’ in the women’s freestyle 48kg category at the Commonwealth Games-2014 held in Glasgow. She defeated England’s Yana Rattigan by a 3-1 scoreline in the CWG-2014 event.
Vinesh Phogat had also won ‘Silver Medal’ in the women’s freestyle 48kg category at the 2015 Asian Championships in Doha. She also won ‘Bronze’ in the women's freestyle 48 kg category.at the 2014 Asian Games.
Vinesh Phogat, who hails from Haryana, is a cousin sister of Indian gold medalist wrestlers Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat.
