CWG-2018: Sanjeev Rajput Bags 19th Gold Medal for India in 50 M Rifle Shooting Event

Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018

Sanjeev Rajput has bagged the 19th ‘Gold Medal’ for India, on the 10th day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the men's 50-Metre Rifle 3 Position competition held at the Belmont Shooting Centre on 14th April 2018.

Indian Senior Shooter, Sanjeev Rajput (37 years old) who hails from Haryana, achieved the feat by making 454.5 points to top the podium after the qualification round with 1180 points at the CWG-2018.

Canada's Grzegorz Sych has bagged the ‘Silver Medal’ with a total score of 448.4 points.

England’s Dean Bale settled for a ‘Bronze Medal’ after posting a total score of 441.2 points.

Another Indian Shooter, Chain Singh in the run, finished fifth with 419.1 points.

In the qualification stage, Sanjeev Rajput scored 391 points in kneeling, 399 points in prone and 390 points in standing while Indian shooter Chain Singh, who was placed second, shot 389 in kneeling, 398 in prone and 379 in standing for a cumulative score of 1166 points.

Earlier, Sanjeev Rajput had won a ‘Silver Medal’ in the same CWG-2014 event held in Glasgow. He also won a ‘Bronze Medal’ in the 2006 edition of the Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne.
