Mausam Khatri has bagged the ‘Silver Medal’ for India, on the eighth day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the men's freestyle 97kg category of wrestling competition at the Carrara Sports Arena on 12th April 2018.
Indian wrestler, Mausam Khatri (27 years old) who hails from Haryana, settled for second for the second position after losing his final bout against South Africa’s Martin Erasmus in the men’s freestyle 97 kg event.
Mausam Khatri got overpowered by Martin Erasmus, who looked in better control and won the match by technical superiority after the scoreline of 12-2 in his favor.
Earlier in CWG-2108, Mausam Khatri had secured wins over Cyprus’ Alexios Kaouslidis in the quarter-final and Nigeria’s Soso Tamarau in the semifinal.
Earlier, Mausam Khatri is a ‘Bronze Medalist’ in the 2010 Asian Games and had also won ‘Gold Medals’ at the Commonwealth Championship two times in the 96Kg category of freestyle wrestling competition for the years 2009 and 2011.
Mausam Khatri had also won the ‘Gold Medal’ in the 97Kg category of freestyle wrestling event at 2016 South Asian Games held in Guwahati, Assam.
Mausam Khatri also won ‘Silver Medal’(97Kg freestyle wrestling) at the 2017 Commonwealth Championships held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
