CWG-2018: Tejaswini Sawant Bags 15th Gold Medal for India While Anjum Moudgil Bagged Silver in Shooting

Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018

Tejaswini Sawant (37 years old) has bagged the 15th ‘Gold Medal’ for India, on the ninth day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's 50-Metre Rifle 3 Positions shooting competition held at the Belmont Shooting Centre on 13th April 2018.

Anjum Moudgil (24 years old) who hails from Haryana, managed to win ‘Silver Medal’ for India, on the 9th day of the 21st CWG-2018 in the women's 50-Metre Rifle 3 Positions shooting competition on 13th April 2018.

Tejaswini Sawant achieved the feat by leading in the first shot in the finals that broke the CWG record with 457.9 points. She scored 152.4 in kneeling and 157.1 in prone positions before the eight finalists entered the elimination stage.

Earlier, Singapore’s Jasmine Ser Xiang Wei of Singapore had set a record of 449.1 at the 2014 Commonwealth Games held in Glasgow.

Anjum Moudgil had led the qualification with a Games record herself and carried the form into the final where she shot 455.7, holding the second position with scores of 151.9 in kneeling and 157.1 in prone.

Tejaswini and Anjum after 10 shots in the elimination stage, led the standings with 417.4 and 416.3 points respectively.

Scotland’s Seonaid Mcintosh remained at the third position to win ‘Bronze Medal’ with a score of 444.6 points.

Tejaswini Sawant with this had won her seventh CWG medal, including two ‘Golds’ in 2006, a pair of ‘Silvers’ and a ‘Bronze’ in 2010 and‘Silver’ in women’s 50m rifle prone in the CWG-2018 edition.
