CWG 2018: Kiran Bags Bronze Medal For India in 76 Kg Freestyle Wrestling Event

Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018

Indian female wrestler, Kiran has bagged the ‘Bronze Medal’ for India, on the 8th day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's freestyle 76 kg category of Nordic wrestling competition on 12th April 2018.

Kiran has achieved the feat against Mauritian wrestler Katouskia Paridhaven in 76 kg weight class in the CWG-2018 wrestling event.

Kiran had gone for the technical superiority points as she was 10-0 ahead by the victory by fall made it even more clashing.

Kiran had lost in the semi-finals to Blessing Onyebuchi of Nigeria, losing 0-10 the first round itself to lose by technical superiority. Bouts are awarded on the basis of technical superiority when one wrestler takes a lead of 10 or more points.

Earlier, Kiran had started off the CWG-2018 campaign by securing a victory over Danielle Sino Guemde of Cameroon by technical superiority. She took a 4-1 lead in the first round before scoring seven consecutive points in the second to wrap up the victory

Kiran who hails from Kolhapur, Maharashtra is one of 45 athletes who is given financial support under the Indian Government's Target Olympic Podium Program. However, she missed out to take participation in 2016 Rio Olympics.
