Shreyasi Singh has bagged the Twelfth ‘Gold Medal’ for India, on the 7th day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's double trap shooting competition held at the Belmont Shooting Centre on 11th April 2018.
Shreyasi Singh achieved the feat by scoring shots of 96 points in the finals and beat Australia’s Emma Cox 2 shots to 1 in the shoot-off at CWG-2018.
Scotland’s Linda Pearson scored shots of 87 points to finish at third place for ‘Bronze Medal’ a point ahead of Varsha Varman.
Varsha Varman, another Indian shooter finished fourth with final score shot of 86 points.
Earlier, Shreyasi Singh has last won ‘Silver Medal in the double trap event Commonwealth shooting championships in Brisbane.
Shreyasi Singh had also won ‘Silver Medal’ in the singles doubles trap event, having scored 92 points in the final CWG-2014 Glasgow Games.
Shreyasi Singh had also won ‘Bronze Medal’ in the double trap team event at Asian Games 2014 held in Incheon.
The Indian top shotgun shooter, Shreyasi Singh (26 years old) who hails from Delhi belongs to a shooting background. Her grandfather Kumar Surendra Singh and father Digvijay Singh were both presidents of the National Rifle Association of India. Her father has also served as a Member of the Parliament of India for five times.
