CWG-2018: Heena Sidhu Bags Eleventh Gold Medal for India in Shooting

Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018

Heena Sindhu has bagged the eleventh ‘Gold Medal’ for India, on the 6th day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's 25-metre air pistol competition held at the Belmont Shooting Centre on 10th April 2018.

Earlier, Heena Sindhu has won ‘Silver Medal’ for India, on the 4th day of the 21st CWG-2018 in the women's 10-metre air pistol shooting competition on 8th April 2018.

Heena Sindhu achieved the feat by scoring 293 points in the rapid-fire series, further securing a place in the final. She shot a final score of 38 of which two of them perfect fives, to claim the top honor.

Elena Galiabovitch of Australia scored 35 to take ‘Silver Medal’ while Malaysia's Alia Sazana Azahari got ‘Bronze Medal’ with 26. Indian shooter

Indian shooter Annu Raj Singh claimed 6th position with a total score of 15 in the same event.With this result, India has won 3 Gold Medals and overall 8 medals in shooting.

Earlier, Heena Sidhu (28 years old) who hails from Mumbai is an Arjuna Awardee, last won ‘Gold Medal in women's 10-meter air pistol event at the 2017 Commonwealth shooting championships in Brisbane.

Heena Sidhu is also the first Indian pistol shooter to reach number one in world rankings by the International Shooting Sports Federation.
