Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018
Manu Baker has bagged the sixth Gold Medal for India, on the 4th day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's 10-metre air pistol shooting competition at the Belmont Shooting Centre held on 8th April 2018.
Heena Sidhu (28 years old) who hails from Mumbai, managed to won Silver Medal for India, on the 4th day of the 21st CWG-2018 in the women's 10-metre air pistol shooting competition on 8th April 2018.
Manu Bhaker (16 years old) who hails from Haryana achieved the feat with a total of 240.9 points while compatriot Heena Sidhu made it a one-two ‘Silver medal’ for India with a total of 234 points.
Australia's Elena Galiabovitch remained third to get the ‘Bronze Medal’ with a total of 214.9 points.
Manu Bhakerfired 10 m, 10.3 m, 10.6 m, and an outstanding 10.9 m to confirm her lead. She made a final shot of 10.4m. Heena Sidhu fired 10.3 and 10.2 as the competition was eliminated one by one. A final attempt of 10.1m, 10.1m, 9.1 m and 9.7 m saw her finish second in the game.
Earlier, Manu Bhaker had won two successive gold medals (women's 10m air pistol and the mixed team pistol event) at the ISSF World Cup 2018. With this, she also became the youngest Indian shooter to win the gold medal.
Earlier, Heena Sidhu, an Arjuna Awardee, last won ‘Gold Medal in women's 10-meter air pistol event at the 2017 Commonwealth shooting championships in Brisbane. She is the first Indian pistol shooter to reach number one in world rankings by the International Shooting Sports Federation.
