Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018
Ragala Venkat Rahul has bagged the fourth Gold Medal for India, on the third day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the men's 85kg category of senior weightlifting competition on 7th April 2018.
RV Rahul (21 years old) has amazed the CWG competition far behind by his lifts with a total effort of 338 kg (151kg in snatch, 187 kg in clean & jerk).
RV Rahul registered his best by lifting 147kg weight in his first attempt, 147kg in the second attempt and final 151 kg in his third and final attempt in the snatch.
RV Rahul faced a close competition with Samoa’s Don Opeloge, who ended with a total of 331kg (151kg+180kg).
Both the opponent lifters opted for 191kg as their final clean and jerk lift and both of them failed but Rahul clinched the top prize owing to Opeloge’s failed second attempt at a 188kg lift.
