Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018
Deepak Latherhas bagged the Bronze Medal for India, on the 2nd day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the men's 69kg category of weightlifting competition on 6th April 2018.
Deepak Lather (18-year-old) hails from Shadipur near Rohtak in Haryana, with this feat he has become the youngest male weightlifter to win a medal in Commonwealth Games especially in his debut event.
Haryanvi Weightlifter, Deepak Lather feat came after lifting a total of 256kg in snatch and clean & jerk in 69kg weight category.
Deepak Lather achieved the ‘Bronze’ by lifting 136 kg in snatch and 159 kg in clean and jerk, making a total of (136kg+159kg) =256kg.
Deepak Lather attempted to lift 138 kg in Snatch and 162 kg in Clean-and-Jerk, but he failed in the attempt to do so. If he had achieved both the lifts, he would have been able to contest for the gold medal.
