Commonwealth Games-2018 also known as Gold Coast 2018 was inaugurated on 4th April 2018 at Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, It has to be held from 4th April to 15 April 2018
KhumukchamSanjita Chanu has bagged the second Gold Medal for India, on the 2nd day of the 21st Commonwealth Games in the women's 53kg category of weightlifting competition on 6th April 2018.
Past the day, Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, on the inaugural (1st) day had won first Gold Medal for India in the women’s 48kg category of weightlifting CWG Gold Coast competition on 5th April 2018
Manipuri Weightlifter, Sanjita Chanu (24 years old) feat came after lifting a total of 192kg in the snatch and clean & jerk.
Sanjita Chanu achieved the ‘Gold’ by lifting 84 kg in snatch and 108 kg in clean and jerk, making a total of (84kg+108kg).
Sanjita Chanu, lifted 80 kg in her very first attempt and 84kg in her third attempt in snatch while in clean and jerk, it, however, wasn't an easy start for her as she failed to lift 112 kg. Although in her third attempt she successfully attempted 108 kg to assure herself for the top finish.
Earlier, Sanjita Chanu in 20th Commonwealth Games had won Gold Medal in 48 kg category of weightlifting in 2014 edition CWG held in Glasgow, Scotland. She has won after a total lift of 173 kg (77kg+96kg).
