China's state-run international news channel CGTN has shown the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir including Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as a part of India.
China's CGTN (China Global Television Network) news channel while reporting on the terror attack on a consulate in Pakistan's Karachi on 23rd November 2018. It showed the map demarcating Pakistan from India, and the area marked as Pakistan in the map not including PoK.
This is a significant twist from China's longstanding depiction of Jammu and Kashmir's map, although, it is still unclear whether this move was intended by the Chinese government.
This could also have implications on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to which India has protested against the project of CPEC, stating that the corridor violates India's sovereignty as it passes through the PoK region.
Chinese media has shown this stance at a time when there is a military exercise between India and China on 10th December 2018 and debate on Kartarpur issue is also going on.
CGTN (China Global Television Network) previously known as CCTV-9 and CCTV News, is a Chinese international English-language news channel of state-owned China Global Television Network group, part of the China Central Television, headquarters in Beijing.
CGTN channel was launched in September 2000.
