First International Rail Coach Expo Inaugurated In Chennai On 17th May 2018 - Details, Aim, Highlights, About
The first-ever International Rail Coach Expo (IRCE) was inaugurated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 17th May 2018.
The International Rail Coach Expo (IRCE) is a three-day event scheduled to be held from 17th May to 19th May 2018 at RPF parade ground, Ambedkar Arangam in Chennai.
The IRCE event was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu’s Governor Banwarilal Purohit. It was hosted by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai, under the Ministry of Railways, in coordination with CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) and RITES Ltd.
The IRCE event is organised with an aim to focus on Rail Coaches and train sets. It provided a unique platform to bring different suppliers under one roof and create synergy for “Make in India”.
The IRCE event will facilitate many reputed rail-car and equipment builders and will showcase their technology and products. It will have more than 70 stalls featuring Indian and foreign players.
Indian Railways will be a part of this event that will also enhance welfare, promote employment opportunities and engage in promoting economic activities.
About Integral Coach Factory (ICF)
ICF is a manufacturer of rail coaches located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It was established in 1952. It is owned and operated by Indian Railways.
ICF is mainly manufacturing rolling stock for Indian Railways and also exports railway coaches to other countries including Thailand, Myanmar, Taiwan, Zambia, Philippines, Tanzania, Uganda, Vietnam, Nigeria, Mozambique, Bangladesh, Angola and Sri Lanka.
ICF almost employs about 11,095 people and manufactures about 2000 coaches per year.
