The Indian Space Research Organisation has started taking series of tests linked to critical Moon landing of Chandrayaan-2.
Chandrayaan-2 is a mission to be launched from Sriharikota which includes an Orbiter, a Lander and a Rover.
Chandrayaan-2 will be landed to the moon, will release the lander and will use Rover to roam around the lunar surface.
This mission is expected to launch in the year 2017 or 2018.
The ISRO Satellite Centre has artificially created close to ten craters to replicate lunar terrain and the test Lander’s session.
ISAC will also conduct tests related to electronics and avionics and test the full mission including the lander’s legs.
