Indian prime minister Narendra Modi is selected for the United Nations prestigious "Champions of the Earth Award".
This award is started thirteen years ago and it is given to outstanding leaders from government, civil society and the private sector whose actions have had a positive impact on the environment.
Along with Modi, French president Emmanuel Macron has also selected for the same award.
Both of them are selected in the Policy Leadership category for their outstanding work in International Solar Alliance (ISA) and promoting new areas of levels of cooperation on environmental.
Macron's work on the Global Pact for the Environment and Narendra Modi's unprecedented pledge to eliminate all single-use plastic in India by 2022.
Indian Cochin International Airport is the worlds first fully solar-powered airport and also been honoured this year with the award for Entrepreneurial Vision, for its leadership in the use of sustainable energy.
