Census 2021: Process and Technology for Census data collection Details

 

 

Census 2021: Other Backward Classes (OBCs) population, Use of Artificial Intelligence in the census data collection

For the first time since independence, the population of OBCs will be collected in the census of 2021.

The government has also reduced the time to fully release the population data from 5 years to 3 years. This means that the entire 2021 census data will be exposed in 2024.

New technology will be used for the year 2021 census.25 lakh people are being trained to complete this work in a time frame of three years.

This time, technical maps and satellite mapping will also be included for their identification in the calculation of houses, villages and housing areas.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh reviewed the work of the Census Commissioner and the Office of the Registrar General. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Home Secretary Rajiv Gaba and other senior officials of the Ministry also present.

There was a demand for the counting of backward castes in India for long so that their rightful participation can be ensured in the reservation and other development schemes.

National Sample Survey Organization (NSSO) released a sample survey report in 2006. It was stated that 41% of the total population of the country is OBC. The organization had prepared this report by surveying 79,306 rural households and 45,374 urban households in the country.
