The state Cabinet of Bihar has approved reservations for the person with disabilities in government jobs and educational institutions.
The cabinet gave its approval during a meeting presided by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
The information was shared by Cabinet Secretariat Department Special Secretary Upendra Nath Pandey.
The state cabinet also decided to pay allowances to the state government employees as per revised rates.
The HRA would now be 24 percent of the basic salary for employees stationed in Delhi, 16 percent for those at Patna, 8 percent for in district headquarters, 6 percent for those in other town and 4 percent for those posted in rule areas, as per the revised rate.
Emoluments like family planning allowance and special pay for secretariat employees, except those involved in engineering and research activities, have been scrapped.
The provision has been brought in accordance with the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
The cabinet approved the establishment of a state advisory board for the empowerment of Divyangjan as envisaged in the act.
The members of the board would include secretaries of various departments along with the representative from districts.
Additionally, two members of the State Legislative Assembly and one from the state Legislative Council will also be a part of the advisory board.
