CCEA Approved New Integrated Scheme on School Education- Details, Features, Objectives, Purpose, Benefits

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) chaired by PM Narendra Modi on 28th March 2018 has approved to launch a new Integrated Scheme on School Education for the period 2018 to 2020, as to be formulated by Department of School Education and Literacy.

The new integrated scheme will combine all existing schemes related to education such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Teacher Education (TE).

The new scheme proposed in relation to Government’s vision of Sabko Shiksha, Achhi Shiksha and aims to support the States/UTs in universalizing access to school education from classes pre-Nursery to 12th across India in accordance with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Education.  

The main focus of the scheme is to strengthen the quality of school education by focusing on Teacher and Technology.

The new scheme will have an estimated allocation of Rs 75,000 crore over the period is 20% increase over current allocations.

Delivering quality education and enhancing learning outcomes for students.

Bridging social and gender gaps in school education system.

Enabling equity and inclusion at all levels of school education.

Ensuring minimum standards in schooling provisions.

Promoting vocationalising of the education system.

Supporting States/UTs in implementing Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.

Boosting & up-grading State Councils for Educational Research and Training (SCERTs) & State Institutes of Education and District Institutes for Education and Training (DIET) as nodal agencies for teacher training.
