Chinese Electronic device and Smartphone making giant Huawei Technologies on 25th February 2018 has unveiled ‘Balong 5G01’, world’s first 5G chip at Mobile World Congress 2018 held in Barcelona, Spain.
The Huawei Balong 5G01 chipset will allow the company’s mobile devices to access 5G, the next generation of cellular networks.
The Huawei CEO, Richard Yu proclaimed that its Huawei Balong 5G01 chipset is the first to support the new 3GPP standard for 5G networks and that it should be able to download data at 2.3Gbps.
CEO Richard Yu further informed that it will support ‘5G’ connectivity across all frequency bands including sub-6GHz and millimetre wave (mmWave) to offer a complete 5G solution suitable for multiple use cases.
CEO Richard Yu also added the company has invested USD 600 million in the 5G network technology.
The Huawei Technologies also introduced its f5G-ready CPE equipment. It is available in two variants, the first will support low-frequency 5G bands and other will cater needs for high-frequency offerings.
The f5G-ready CPE equipment is compatible with both 4G and 5G networks. It can enable speeds up to 2Gbps.
5G is the wireless communication technology based on third-generation partnership project (3GPP). It will offer greater upload and download speed as compared to present 4G LTE networks technology.
