Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has approved to establish a 5000 MW capacity solar park at the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) situated near Ahmedabad on 11th April 2018.
The proposed solar park would be the largest such entity in the world after its completion.
As per the official statement, the proposed solar power generation project would be established in 11,000 hectares of land with a total investment of Rs 25,000 crore.
CM Vijay Rupani informed that the solar park project will contribute significantly to achieve Prime Minister Narendra Modi's target of producing 175 Gigawatt of electricity through renewable energy sources by 2022.
CM Vijay Rupani expels his firm belief that the solar park would not only create employment and opportunities but also open new manufacturing avenues for the entire supply chain in and around the Dholera Industrial City.
Gujarat government believes that the establishment of this massive solar park will attract & encourage an investment of Rs 25,000 crore and will generate employment for over 20,000 people.
Gujarat government also proposed to establish a 200MW wind park in DSIR, which in turn believed to attract additional investment of about Rs 1,400 crore.
Gujarat Power Corporation Ltd (GPCL), Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) and Gujarat Electric Transmission Corporation (GETCO) along with Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Central Transmission Unit (CTU) are already in process for implementing the solar park project.
