Australia Wins Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2018 – Details, Date, History, Ranking Tally

World Champions Australia Men’s Hockey Team has won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2018, making a record win for the 10th time.

World champions Australian Men’s Hockey Team has beaten defending champions England by a close goal margin of 2-1 in the final of the 27th edition of Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2018 tournament on 10th March 2018 held in Ipoh, Malaysia.

Argentina Men’s Hocking Team secured the 3rd place defeating Malaysia by a goal margin of 3-2.

India Men’s Hockey Team attained the 5th position, after defeating Ireland by a thrilling goal margin of 4-1 in the classification match for the fifth and sixth places.

Argentine hockey player, Gonzalo Peillat scored maximum goals count to 8, in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2018 Tournament.

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup-2018 was the 27th edition, held in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia from 3rd March to 10 March 2018.

About Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is an annual international men’s field hockey tournament held in Malaysia. It has been named after the 9th king of Malaysia and ‘Father of Malaysian Hockey’ Sultan Azlan Shah also avid fan of field hockey.

The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup was established in 1983 as a biennial sporting event. Later, it turned into the annual event after 1998, because of its growth and popularity.

Australia has won Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament for record 10 times in 1983, 1998, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2018.

India had won Sultan Azlan Shah Cup for 4 times in the years 1985, 1991, 1995, 2009 and in 2010 shared with South Korea.
