Budget 2018: Education Is Priority with Revitalising Infrastructure and Systems in Education (RISE) initiative

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has presented the General Budget- 2018-19 on 1st Feb 2018 in Parliament, New Delhi.

Arun Jaitley has announced a set of new proposals and amendments for growth in Education sector, considering it as a priority from Pre-nursery to Class XII.

According to Arun Jaitely, Government will take important measure to enhance digital intensity in education, with an aim to impart education from blackboard to digital board by 2022. Modern technology will also be initiated to improve quality of education in India.

Arun Jaitley has proposed a significant initiative of Revitalising Infrastructure and Systems in Education (RISE) with a total capital investment of Rs 1 lakh crore by 2022.

Arun Jaitley has informed that every block with more than 50% ST population and at least 20,000 tribal people will have ‘Ekalvya schools’ in equal to Navodaya Vidyalaya.

Arun Jaitley has unveiled a new initiative of Prime Minister Research Fellows (PMRF) for top 3,000 B.Tech graduates from premier colleges, every three years period and will be aided to get higher education opportunities in IITs and IISc with lucrative fellowship.

Arun Jaitley has also introduced the move of Integrated B.Ed programs & training programs for teachers in order to improve quality of teaching.

Arun Jaitley has announced that the government is planning to set up 24 new government medical colleges by upgrading existing district hospitals, to ensure 1 medical college per every 3 parliamentary constituencies.

Arun Jaitley further added that 18 new Schools of Planning & Architecture (SPAs) will also be established in IITs and NITs as autonomous schools. He also referred to set up a specialized Railway University in Vadodara.
